Sheffield United plot ambitious loan swoop for £100,000-a-week player - gossip

Sheffield United look to be in a lot of trouble as things stand, and a productive window could be the antidote they need to arrest their slump.

One surprise name that has emerged is that of out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Blades are interested in securing a loan deal for the player, and would be willing to pay the majority of his £100,000-a-week wages to seal a deal.

Leeds United have been tipped to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo by former England striker Kevin Phillips amid reported interest from Newcastle United. The pundit said: “I think Newcastle, Leeds and a few other clubs will be looking at Rojo. I am sure there would be a lot of clubs on tracking him but Leeds is an appealing club at the moment. I would imagine Bielsa would look at that because that is an area they could do with strengthening in. He also has the experience of playing in big games at a big club.” (Football Insider)

Liverpool are closely tracking Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum in the coming weeks. Albion are bracing themselves for offers with a number of other big clubs said to be keeping tabs on the player. (ESPN)

Inter Milan are keeping tabs on Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar. The Italian giants are understood to be in the market for defensive reinforcements, and the Swiss international is said to be one of several names on their shortlist. (Tuttosport)

Christian Benteke’s agent has claimed that there are a number of clubs from across Europe interested in signing the Crystal Palace striker. Young Burnley goalkeeper Lewis Thomas has signed a short-term work experience loan with National League North side AFC Fylde.
