Sheffield United’s slide into the Championship continued this afternoon with defeat at Everton, although the Blades were in the game right the way through as the hosts won 1-0. Abdoulaye Doucouré was the matchwinner for the hosts with a first-half header from former Blade Dom Calvert-Lewin’s cross, while Andre Brooks tested Jordan Pickford’s handling and Cameron Archer saw a couple of chances go to waste.
The Blades fans were in fine voice throughout in their final away game of this wretched season, ahead of next weekend’s home clash with Spurs which brings the curtain fully down. Here’s how we rated United’s players on their final ever visit to Goodison Park...
13. Anis Ben Slimane 4.5
Replaced Brooks for a rare appearance and could have fed Hamer for a late chance but elected to shoot himself when a crowd of bodies in front of him easily blocked
14. Sam Curtis 4.5
Came off the bench to make a dream Premier League debut in place of Arblaster and thundered into a 50/50 with Young with the look of a man who’d been straining at the leash for some time. Had a couple of good crossing chances but snatched at them, sending one high over Pickford’s crossbar
15. Rhian Brewster 5
Wilder has said: "Rhian has returned to training - returned to competitive action - and obviously finished that cycle as well. So, Rhian is out of the physio room, and he's having pitch-based stuff."
