The defender was culpable for the QPR goal, giving the ball away before deflecting Ilias Chair’s strike past his own goalkeeper. But he then was in the right place at the right time deep into injury time, at the same end, to see a deflected shot of his own beat Seny Dieng and send Unitedites behind that goal wild.
United had appeared on course for only a second defeat in 10 games until the death, remaining nine points clear of third-placed Blackburn Rovers in the table despite falling five behind leaders Burnley.
Here’s how we rated United’s players at Loftus Road ...

5. John Egan 7
Back in the side after suspension, he held his hand up in apology after the home side's first goal when his poor pass gave the ball away and then Chair's shot deflected off him and wrongfooted Foderingham. Improved after that despite almost conceding another own goal late on when a shot deflected off him and landed on the roof of his own net. Then was the hero with, ironically, a deflected shot at the same end as his conceded goal. What a turnaround Photo: David Klein

6. Ciaran Clark 5
Returning to the left side of defence as Egan returned to the side but didn't look his normally composed self against QPR's tricky forwards. Didn't reappear for the second half as he was replaced by Robinson, presumably due to injury Photo: David Klein

7. Enda Stevens 5.5
Kept his place with Max Lowe missing with a side strain and came close to firing home the Blades' equaliser with a well-struck shot that fizzed narrowly wide of Dieng's right-hand post. Saw another good-looking effort blocked behind in the second and played a key role in Egan's equaliser Photo: David Klein

8. Ollie Norwood 6
Superb early challenge on Roberts saw him cut out the danger as the home side looked to break. Did overhit some passes at times but a beautiful one through to Sharp should have seen the skipper drag United level. Photo: David Klein
