United were close to their irresistible best at times in the first half and went ahead through striker Oli McBurnie’s header, his second in as many games.
A second early in the second half calmed any nerves, Anel Ahmedhodzic volleying home from a corner, before Iliman Ndiaye added a third to really seal the game.
Ahmedhodzic netted his second later on to put the gloss on his display as United returned to the top of the early Championship table.
Here’s how our man rated the Blades on another night to remember at the Lane ...

9. Sander Berge 7.5
The subject of much transfer speculation as the deadline edges ever closer, he was on the teamsheet two days before the deadline and didn't show any lack of commitment to my eye. Picked up an assist for Ndiaye's goal and put his foot in when needed too. May have got a goal but Yiadom tackled him superbly as he was about to let fly Photo: Andrew Yates

10. Iliman Ndiaye 8.5
Could have had at least two goals in the first half alone but he passed his best chance wide after Doyle's intelligent pass. But his all-round play was a joy to watch, as he routinely worked hard to win the ball back before beating his man with a bit of magic. Got his goal in the second half with an impetuous finish before departing to a deserved standing ovation. 11. Oli McBurnie 8
After rediscovering his goalscoring touch at Luton, did it again here tonight with a superb, and brave, header into the bottom corner from Lowe's driven cross. Looks a player transformed by the confidence of goals and his all-round play, dropping deep to link it, was superb at times too. Got a standing ovation when he went off Photo: Andrew Yates
