Chris Wilder sends messages to Alan Knill and Guilherme Ramos following Sheffield United exits

Sheffield United have announced changes to Chris Wilder’s coaching team at Bramall Lane.

Manager Chris Wilder has wished Alan Knill and Guilherme Ramos all the very best for the future after their exits from Sheffield United were confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.

The Star, almost a fortnight ago, revealed that Wilder’s backroom team was set to be the subject of a shake-up this summer ahead of the 2026/27 Championship campaign, confirming Knill was set to move on. The 61-year-old is understood to have been shocked when the news was delivered to him.

Knill worked alongside Wilder for a number of years, both at Bramall Lane and elsewhere. He returned to S2 last September after Wilder answered the Blades’ SOS call to try and turn their fortunes around following a disastrous start to the season under former boss Rubén Sellés.

Ramos, meanwhile, is leaving Bramall Lane after less than a year at the club. He was drafted in to strengthen Wilder’s coaching team last September. He had previously worked in England with Nottingham Forest.

“My association with Alan goes back many years and he has been pivotal to the success we have had together,” Wilder told United’s club website.

“He's not only been a brilliant coach but also a great confidant. He departs with our gratitude and best wishes for the future.

“Guilherme is a talented young coach who helped us through a tricky period when we returned last season, and I know he'll have a bright future in the game. We also wish him well for the future."

In their announcement confirming the departures of Knill and Ramos, United have confirmed Micky Collins will step up to become Wilder’s assistant, while former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones has joined the club.

The former England international announced his exit from Blackburn last week following a return to the club in February. He served as a first-team coach, working alongside former head coach Michael O’Neill, who left the club last month.
