Alan Biggs’ latest Blades musings...

‘No-one wants to lose a Jack O’Connell, a John Egan or a John Fleck. But if the bid was high enough and a couple of positions could be improved as a result, what then?’

Alan Biggs: Nothing off the table if Sheffield United are to move forward ... including selling big names

Sheffield United and a simple equation. Improve on ninth in the Premier League with the same squad = virtually impossible.

Another Leeds man says they need to emulate the Blades...

We have a team that is dedicated, motivated and under the leadership of Marcelo [Bielsa], we are more than capable of staying up. You look at how Sheffield United have gone on. They are a very organised team and tactics detailed as well just like Marcelo. They have done extremely well this last year and we are hoping that we can do the same, if not better, than Sheffield United. I think that will be a great year for us next year.

Tommy Lee joins United’s academy... from Wednesday!

Former Chesterfield stopper Tommy Lee has joined the Blades as an academy goalkeeping coach.

Lee joins United from city rivals Wednesday, where he spent two seasons after retiring from playing in 2017.

Darren Ward, United’s first-team goalkeeping coach, said: "Tommy's personality and coaching qualities will be a great fit for us. The addition of another experienced coach allows us all to assist with recruitment and scouting, as well as coaching. Along with Matt Duke, we have put together a fantastic team to develop the goalkeepers at the club."

Blades ‘have fresh bid rejected’ for transfer target: Reports

Sheffield United have reportedly had a fresh bid for John Swift rejected by Reading.

Talksport report this morning that the Blades have offered £4m for Swift, which has been turned down by the Berkshire side.

Swift netted six times and added 10 assists last season, and has also attracted attention from Leeds and Aston Villa.

Basham ‘astounded’ by double player of the year haul

Chris Basham admits he was “astounded” to be named Sheffield United’s players’ and supporters’ player of the year last week.

Basham impressed throughout United’s first season at Premier League level for 12 years, as Chris Wilder’s side finished ninth in the top-flight.

"My parents and my wife were astounded and so was I,” he told the Yorkshire Post.

“It’s great having the fans on your side and it just shows how far hard work and determination with a bit of quality can take you. It felt really good, I just wish I had scored a goal last season."
