Former Blades striker named in England squad

Former Sheffield United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been called up by England for the upcoming Nations League matches against Belgium and Denmark as well as the friendly with Wales.

In-form Calvert-Lewin has netted eight goals so far this season and played a key role in Everton’s impressive start to the new Premier League season.

The Sheffield-born 23-year-old striker left Bramall Lane for Everton in a £1.5m deal in 2016.

Gareth Southgate’s men take on Wales in a friendly on October 8 before the Nation League fixtures with Belgium and Denmark on October 11 and 14 respectively.

Another former Blade, Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, returns to the 30-man squad after missing the games with Iceland and Denmark last month following an incident on the Greek island of Mykonos.
