Bramall Lane through the ages...

As well as being the Blades’ home since day one, The Lane has also played host to events such as rock concerts, American evangelist Billy Graham as well as world title boxing bouts, rugby league matches and Ashes cricket – with the sound of willow on leather first echoing around the Lane in 1855.

The battle Sheffield United simply MUST win in order to retain their Premier League status

There have been times this season when it seems as if Sheffield United’s greatest enemy in their battle for Premier League survival isn’t the array of world class talent they face on a weekly basis but themselves.

Former Blades man wants longer stay at current club... months after announcing RETIREMENT!

Former Blade Ricky Holmes has revealed his hopes to earn a longer stay at Northampton Town - just a few months after announcing his retirement.

The 33-year-old left Bramall Lane after a succession of injuries, and revealed his plans to call it a day thanks to a back issue.

But he has played six times for Northampton after rejoining them last month, and now wants to extend his short-term deal.

"I'd love to stay," he told our sister paper, the Northampton Chronicle. "I've always loved it here. I have a great relationship with the club, from the fans to the staff, and nothing has changed since I left so long may it continue.

"Hopefully we can sit down in a week or two and sort something out because I've proved I'm fit. I've started games and I've not missed a session of training so hopefully I can stay for a couple more... years. Not months, let's say years!

"It's a busy month coming up. I love Christmas and we've got games that we need to win and we're looking forward to playing and getting results."

Blades continue fundraising push for Prostate Cancer UK

United’s backroom staff recently raised over £10,000 for the charity with a gruelling month-long challenge during November - and the Blades now have nine signed Prostate Cancer shirts to raffle off to continue the fundraising push.

The club has nine tops to raffle and fans wishing to enter are politely asked to make a donation of between £1 up to a maximum of £5 and leave their full name and the following message 'Congratulations, please enter me into the raffle to support Prostate Cancer' in the comments box.

It’s no coincidence that most of United’s first-team squad shared this image across their social media channels last night… the club is certainly all in this together as they look to pull off a survival bid
