Premier League takes a leaf out of the Champions League book - with it’s own theme song!

Get ready for a new sound to be pumping out of the speakers at Bramall Lane from this season - as the Premier League follows in the footsteps of the Champions League by having its own anthem.

New season, new sound. The Official Premier League Anthem

The official Premier League anthem. The Premier League has launched a new anthem ahead of the 2020/21 season, which starts on Saturday 12 September when Fulh...

It’s not really likely to have fans belting it out from the stands once they return to stadiums. And it really could have done with a crescendo-hitting line like ‘THE CHAMPIONS!!!!’ But who knows, once everyone gets used to it, it might end up being pretty iconic.

The PR fluff for the anthems, includes word from Premier League commercial director Will Brass, who says: "The anthem captures the drama and emotion of a Premier League matchday and we hope it will soon become instantly recognisable to supporters around the world.”

The man behind the anthem, Dave Connolly, has worked with the likes of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. He said: “We set out to create a piece of music that embodies the passion of the beautiful game. From the strings which reflect the prestige of the League, to the guitars that give an authentic, live and raw feel, and the gospel choir that adds a powerful, human quality, this anthem was lovingly crafted to become an integral part of Premier League and football culture.”

John Barnes: Rangers should sign John Lundstram

The Blades midfielder is out of contract next summer and although an offer remains on the table from United, Rangers could tie him to a pre-contract agreement as early in January. And Liverpool legend and former Celtic boss Barnes believes Lundstram would be a good signing at Ibrox…

If Steven Gerrard was to get John Lundstram for a free transfer from Sheffield United, that would be great. He is a very physical player, quite strong, and good on the ball with great passing ability. Overall, it would be a good signing for Rangers as they are so desperate to stop Celtic from winning the league again this year and securing the Ten In A Row.  Iam sure they will get closer to Celtic this season and have started the well in the league. There is a long way to go in the season but signing John Lundstram would definitely help them.

Blades begin process of moving memorial garden

"In the near future, we anticipate that there will be extensive development of Bramall Lane's facilities to improve our historic home. At some point, this will inevitably mean that the current memorial area of the stadium will have to moved or included in any building work that may take place."

Memorial Garden to be moved

Sheffield United have always had a fine reputation for the way in which the passing of members of its special family are remembered and paid tribute to upon their passing to a higher league.

Jurgen Klopp: No decision taken yet on Brewster

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says a decision has not been taken about the future of Rhian Brewster, a target of Sheffield United.

The England U21 international is a target of Chris Wilder, who told his own press conference yesterday that he wants one more striker - but may have to wait to sign him.

And Klopp revealed today ahead of the season opener against Leeds: "There's nothing to say on him. He's our player, a wonderful kid, a big talent. But the decisions just aren't finished yet because we don’t know what’s going on.

"There's so much going on. We are really thoughtful about what would be best for his development.

"We don’t have decisions for the squad and positions for which players, but we want to help him."

Chris Wilder on the new season - and new challenges

To replicate what we did last year is going to take some doing. Will it be a failure if we stay in the division again? I don’t know about that, but we all have to aim to reach the heights we hit last year. We feel we have brought players in to improve the group and as far as I am concerned we are in a good place at the moment.

Our man James Shield’s view of the Oli Burke signing

I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on. On the face of it, seems like both SUFC and WBA have got what they wanted from the deal… hope Robinson goes well at The Hawthorns. Good bloke.
