They were denied a first victory by Danny Welbeck’s 87th minute strike for the hosts after debut boy Jayden Bogle had given 10-man Blades a second half lead.

But on the plus side, United produced a whole-hearted, battling performance despite playing with 10 men for nearly an hour following John Lundstram’s sending off.
