Chris Wilder’s post-match thoughts

We want points on the board, not plaudits. I'm saying the same things after games, we've been in every one but that's not enough to start picking up points.

If people think we can open up to City, they haven't got a clue about football. Their world-class players will pick you off and it can be three, four or five.

We had to stay compact, they're one of the best teams at pressing you so you can't think 'we'll roll it out and play through them'. When it was our time to play, we had to show more quality than we did.

Guardiola on Kyle Walker

I know maybe he is not so happy to score against a club he loves a lot, but for us, it was so important. The goal helped us a lot but not just for the goal, for the fact that his concentration, he understands better every day what we have to do. His physicality, there are no words to explain it.

Pep Guardiola’s post-match thoughts

We played really well. We struggled to score goals for the chances we created. But they had one clear chance, no more than that, and I'm incredibly satisfied, it's so important.

'I’ve seen plastic spoons sharper than us' - Sheffield United fans have their say on 1-0 defeat to Manchester City

Sheffield United’s winless start to the Premier League campaign continues after they were beaten 1-0 by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Bramall Lane this afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s reaction

The Zoom connection is an absolute shambles at Bramall Lane, so we have hardly heard a word that Guardiola has said after the game… but he did say:

We're more than delighted with the clean sheet. I had to think about the number of changes because it's a lot of games, five in 16 days.

That’s it, United are edged out by a single goal once again as their winless start to the Premier League season continues at the Lane this afternoon. Former Blade Kyle Walker with the goal for City as they return across the Pennines with all three points.

More brilliant work by Ramsdale, but this time he shows his initiative to head he ball away quickly at the edge of the box as Sterling tries to latch onto a long punt from Ederson.
