As usual, the Blades were well in the match against David Moyes’ in-form side but individual errors and missed opportunities proved to be their undoing yet again.

To rub salt into the wound, influencial defender John Egan was stretchered off after picking up what looks like a serious injury in challenging Hammers’ on loan forward and Sheffield United transfer target Jesse Lingard.

It was also revealed by Chris Wilder afterwards that over the weekend, John Fleck was rushed to hospital and has been having tests.
