Sheffield United's Championship rivals 'launch' £5m bid for attacker as striker could face exit

All the very latest transfer rumours from the Championship following the start of the summer transfer window.

The summer transfer window is officially open for business, meaning Sheffield United are officially free to start bringing in new faces.

The Blades are expected to be busy this summer after finishing an underwhelming 13th in the Championship in 2025/26. Chris Wilder wants to add experience and players with Championship pedigree to his squad to strengthen their promotion chances heading into next term.

From the 2026/27 campaign onwards, eight clubs will be in with a chance of sealing promotion to the Premier League amid the introduction of an expanded play-off system. The clubs that finish between third and eighth inclusive will compete in the play-offs.

With the window now officially open, Unitedites will be hoping the Blades hit the ground running and get some new faces through the door as quickly as possible. Fans of other Championship sides will also be hoping to see their clubs come flying out of the traps.

With that said, here are some of the latest transfer rumours concerning United’s second tier counterparts...

Millwall ‘make bid’ for Joseph

Millwall have ‘launched’ a £5million bid to try and sign Hull City attacker Kyle Joseph, according to a report by the Mail. After missing out on promotion to the Premier League in 2025/26, the Lions are keen to strengthen their squad in a bid to try and go one better next time around.

Millwall missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of the season, missing out on the second automatic promotion place to Ipswich Town by one point, before being beaten 2-0 on aggregate by Hull at the semi-final stage of the play-offs. Hull went on to win promotion after beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.

Following promotion back to the top flight for the first time since dropping out of the Premier League back in 2017, question marks surround Joseph’s chances of earning regular game time next season. The former Blackpool man made 49 appearances for the Tigers in the most recent campaign, chipping in with eight goals.

Former Blades striker Oli McBurnie established himself as Hull’s main man in front of goal, scoring 19 goals across all competitions, meaning he is likely to continue as their chief striker next term. Other attacking additions are expected over the summer, meaning Joseph risks being pushed down the pecking order.

Joseph suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the second leg of Hull’s semi-final triumph over Millwall and is poised to miss the start of pre-season training. It remains to be seen if he will push for an exit amid fears he could struggle for regular minutes next term.

German outfit ‘interested’ in Ducksch

According to a report by German publication Bild, as cited by Sport Witness, Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch has an ‘opportunity’ to return to Germany this summer. Ducksch joined the Blues from Werder Bremen last August for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal.

His maiden season at St Andrew’s saw him score ten goals in 33 Championship appearances. He was on target when the Blades drew 1-1 with Birmingham in March, bending home a free-kick.

Scoring 11 goals in all competitions, the German offered Blues boss Chris Davies a sense of versatility amid his capabilities to perform as both a striker and as a No.10. He was often deployed just behind chief striker Jay Stansfield.

Hertha Berlin have been credited with interest in potentially signing Ducksch. It is claimed he has a €1million release clause that can be triggered following Birmingham’s failure to clinch promotion.
