Sheffield United news: Blades 'consider' former Charlton Athletic manager, Liverpool join Aston Villa in race for Sander Berge

Sheffield United are continuing their search for Chris Wilder’s successor in time for next season.

Paul Heckingbottom has been placed in charge of first-team duties for the remainder of the campaign but as expected, managers have already been linked to the vacancy.

Former Watford and Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is, according to The Sun, the Blades’ number one target due to the two promotions he has on his CV.

And from the same publication, while they reiterate Jokanovic is in the main target, Oxford United’s Karl Robinson has attracted a few admiring glances.

Robinson has gained a strong reputation for operating on a shoestring budget at Oxford and promoting young talent into the first-team.

His willingness to embrace and look for new ideas is also noted. Despite being just 40, Robinson has over 11 years of experience in the lower leagues with MK Dons. Charlton Athletic and now the Us.

Meanwhile, transfer speculation linking Liverpool to a move for Sander Berge has resurfaced.

Eurosport (via The Sun) claims the Norwegian is being eyed as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who looks set to join Barcelona in June.

Berge is likely to depart Bramall Lane if the Blades are relegated to the Championship, with the Reds now set to join Aston Villa in the race.
