But Wilder declined the opportunity to confirm his interest at his pre-match press conference this morning, ahead of Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

"We're working away at a number of deals and we're close to getting over the line," Wilder said.

"They will be presented in time when everything's done, out of respect for everyone involved.

"Until they sign on the dotted line and everything's agreed, we're still working away."

Wilder revealed he expects "two or three" deals to be completed before the deadline.

"It's important for us to strengthen when we're doing well," Wilder added.

"As always there are three major players in any deal; ourselves, the player and the selling club. We have to get all three things right and it's- not always straightforward. A lot of work goes into it at this level, as you can imagine."
