Sheffield United make contract announcement as Blade commits future to Bramall Lane

Sheffield United have wrapped another bit of business, with goalkeeper, Adam Davies, signing a new contract at the club.

The news is the second announcement of the day after the Blades confirmed the arrival of Jamie Shackleton from Leeds United, and Chris Wilder says that Davies is a ‘popular member’ of the squad. The Star reported recently that the shot-stopper was due to stick around, and now it’s been made official.

A statement from the club read, “Goalkeeper Adam Davies has agreed a new two-year deal with the Blades, meaning the experienced stopper is now contracted to the club until the summer of 2026.

“The Wales international joined United on a free transfer from Stoke City in January 2022, making ten appearances and some meaningful contributions during the 2022/23 promotion campaign.

“Last term, Davies was part of the goalkeeping department pushing both Wes Foderingham and Ivo Grbić for the number one jersey, although his only appearance came in the Carabao Cup against Lincoln City... He has been on international duty this summer and reports back for training with the Blades squad this week.”

Meanwhile, the manager, Wilder, said, "Of course, we know Adam and his attributes very well, he's a popular member of the dressing room and will provide healthy competition in the goalkeeping department."
