The Blades made the announcement via their official Twitter account on Saturday morning.

The 27-year-old has been at the club since 2017, signing for United from MK Dons, and has gone on to make 116 appearances for Chris Wilder’s men since then.

This season, he has been an ever-present in the Blades’ starting XI, playing every minute of every Premier League game so far. The wide man has picked up from where he left off last season, when he also completed every minute of every match in his side’s impressive return to the top flight.

Baldock’s prior deal had been set to expire in the summer of 2022, but his new contract will ensure that he remains a United player for at least four more years.

Speaking to the club’s official website about his extension, the wing-back said: "I still believe we will get out of the situation we're in and I'm absolutely delighted to sign a new deal.

"We all need to take individual responsibility on the pitch in the key moments, we're not doing enough at the minute, but we're fortunate that we have an opportunity to turn things around."We've got a good group in the dressing room, many who know what it takes to get out of these sticky patches, albeit not in the Premier League. I'm certainly full of confidence that we can put things right.

"I've had the best years of my career by far with the Blades, I've got a good relationship with the fans and I love living in the city, so now it's about sorting out what's happening on the pitch."

Baldock is the second Blades player to a pen a new contract this week.

Promising full-back Rhys Norrington-Davies has also signed a new deal with the Blades.

The Welsh international is yet to make a first team appearance for Wilder’s men, but is enjoying an impressive campaign on loan at Championship outfit Luton Town, and was understood to be attracting interest from a host of clubs going into the January transfer window.
