Den Haag, under the guidance of Alan Pardew and his assistant Chris Powell, are 17th in the Eredivisie with just one win in the seven the pair have overseen.

And on Wednesday the club’s plight seemingly became too much for a group of fans to bear as they approached Pardew and his players – including Blade Duffy – during a training session.

A Den Haag spokesperson later told BBC Sport: "It was about a group of approximately 10 worried fans.

"They expressed, in a calm and non-hostile way, their concerns to the staff and players at the start of the training."

Duffy could be spotted towards the rear of the group of players listening to the fans, sporting a snood.

Duffy joined Den Haag on loan in January after his unsuccessful time at Stoke City in the Championship came to an end.
