Heckingbottom’s advice to Brewster

Why Paul Heckingbottom can’t wait to get Blades fans back inside Bramall Lane

PH on Jack O’Connell’s rehabilitation

He’ll be led by symptoms again. It’s a similar process as last time at a slower pace, and any swelling or reaction is a step back. Hopefully with the slowly slowly approach there won’t be any reaction. It’s a slow approach and we’ll be led by how he reacts to gradually increasing his load each day.

PH on what he hopes to see on Saturday

We want points but we’ve got to be at our best. We’ve seen how tough it is and felt it, too. We’ve seen the quality that players have to take the game away from you quickly, so we have to be at our best to give us the best chance to get the points.

PH on reaction his side will get when fans return

It’ll be the last game of a tough season but they’ve been away for so long, everyone wants to get together and feel that connection with their club again. The fans never got to celebrate with the players last season after a fantastic first season in the Premier League so everyone will welcome it back and hopefully when we start next season we have everyone back, home and away fans. Because they play their part as well.

PH on learning from Palace’s example

You have to build that way, you could name a lot of teams that have done that but you have to look at the wages they pay to attract the names and then keep them. You’re got to build off it. Two seasons in the PL with the payment that goes with it, we should be financially in a better place. There’s building blocks on the pitch and off it, before you can pay the same as other clubs.

PH on fans returning to stadia

The fans, players and staff want the fans back in the ground and we cannot wait. It’s not the same standing on the side-line with no fans, you could be anywhere. We need fans and full stadiums and everyone can’t wait for that. We’re hopefully on the road to recovery. My life’s football but it’s probably a big indicator to us that we’re on the way to some kind of normality.

I watched them at Leicester and they looked strong in the first half especially, hard to break down and a threat on the counter. They looked to play quick football in the middle of the pitch so we know they have threats and good players. We’re going to have to be very good, at our best to get points out of the game. We spoke about that as a group, that’s the only way we can approach it.

PH on Rhian Brewster

It’s been difficult for him but he’s been working hard with us, he’s had a run of three games and is working even harder now. It’s coincided with Ramadan too so he’s been trying to manage his body and it’s been a good education for him that will stand him in good stead. We can’t shy away from how hard it is and how hard he’s got to work but we can support him through it and try to push him.

No fresh team news as it stands, everyone is back in this week so everything’s as it was. The lads are getting more minutes under their belt in training and Bash and Sander had game minutes too. We were light with them for the first couple of games and then trained normal. They’re find. The more minutes we can give them, the better. It was more than we expected them to get but they’ll have benefitted from it.
