is that the 5pm press conference, at which we all expected to get some sort of clarity on the Chris Wilder situation, won’t now take place, having been cancelled about 15 minutes before it was due to take place due to “circumstances beyond [United’s] control”. It had already been rescheduled from 1.30pm and now won’t take place at all, with tens of thousands of Blades fans waiting to hear of word about their manager’s fate...

Update on the press conference...
Originally scheduled for 1.30pm today and billed, as usual, as Manager’s press conference, it has now been moved to 5pm and entitled simply ‘press conference’ - we’ll, of course, bring you all the latest of what is said at that point, and until then as well at www.thestar.co.uk
As things stand...
United will still host a 1.30pm press conference, as that hasn’t been moved, cancelled or postponed yet - a player was scheduled to face the media this morning, but that was scrapped at short notice. Whether that changes in the next hour or not, we’ll have to see - and of course, we’ll let you know
