Premier League backs referee Moss over Gosling comments during United match

The Premier League has backed referee Jon Moss after Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling claimed he'd mocked the club’s league position during the Cherries game at Sheffield United on Sunday.

Gosling told the Bournemouth Echo that Moss should "apologise" and that he had "zero respect" for some of his teammates.

“I thought he was a disgrace," Gosling said.

"The comments that he made especially to me and one other player – talking about the relegation zone and ‘you’re still in the relegation zone’, ‘you’re having one’, ‘your team’s having one’ this and that and it was very, very disrespectful. I think he should really come out and apologise because I thought he was a disgrace.”

But the Daily Mirror is reporting tonight that the Premier League has justified the remarks - insisting the match had been “a very challenging game for Jon and his officials".

It is understood the FA will not be charging Gosling for his comments.

Premier League referee Jon Moss has been criticised by Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling amid claims he mocked the Cherries league position during the game at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

United are simply 'relentless'

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.

If anything encapsulates the extraordinary progression of Chris Wilder’s United it is their ambition to go higher and genuinely believing they can do it, writes Alan Biggs.

Sheffield United's on loan 'keeper Dean Henderson.

Dean Henderson is now worth nearly 17 times more than when he first arrived at Sheffield United, according to transfer market analysts.

The goalkeeper, on loan from Manchester United, would command a figure of around £15m if he left Old Trafford at the end of the season, independent researchers studying form and price inflation report.

This figure, which compares to the £900,000 valuation Henderson commanded ahead of his debut for Chris Wilder’s side, is likely to rise if, as expected, he wins a first senior England cap ahead of June’s European Championships.

Bournemouth's Dan Gosling slams referee Jon Moss a "disgrace"

Referee Jon Moss, who was officiating Sheffield United's match against Bournemouth on Sunday, has been called a "disgrace" by Cherries midfielder Dan Gosling.
