So far, the Blades have made two acquisitions since trading recommenced earlier in the month, WITH ex-Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell and tenacious full-back Jack Robinson arriving at Bramall Lane from Nottingham Forest.

Now, as the transfer rumour mill continues to churn away, the Blades have been linked two more intriguing potential deals.

However, the Blades are said to have been thwarted in their attempts to land powerhouse midfielder, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.

The report suggests that the 31-year-old turned down the opportunity to move to Bramall Lane as we wishes to join a more "prestigious" European side - a similar outcome to the Blades’ rumoured pursuit of Genk prodigy Sander Berge last summer.

Meanwhile, national media reports have claimed that United are now in the running to sign Stoke City forward Tyrese Campbell, who has attracted a great deal of attention - including that of Old Firm giants Rangers and Celtic - with his eye-catching displays for the Potters.

Campbell, who has been capped at youth level for England, looks likely to leave the Championship side this month, as his side look to secure a fee for their starlet ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

The 20-year-old began his career in the Manchester City youth academy, before being snapped up by Stoke in 2016.

After a successful spell on loan with Shrewsbury Town last season, the youngster has successfully broken into Michael O'Neill's first team, and scored the winning goal in his side's shock 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.
