The forward has again been touted as a potential new arrival for Chris Wilder’s side, who do have a history of bringing in promising players from the second tier.

Watkins has only recently been playing as a striker, and netted in Brentford’s 7-0 hammering of Luton Town at the weekend.

Sheffield United are currently flying high in the Premier League table, and sit in 8th place after 14 games, though are only two points behind 5th placed Crystal Palace.
