Norwood has earned rave reviews for his performances this season with former England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent earlier this week hailing him as the ‘key component’ in United’s impressive start to life in the Premier League.

And on Saturday the 28-year-old will come up against a Brighton & Hove Albion side he won promotion with in 2017 before being sent out on a season-long loan to Fulham.

He never kicked a ball in anger in the top flight for the Seagulls but is now showing his worth to Wilder, according to former Brighton assistant manager and United star Booker who watched him impress in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.

“I watched Oliver Norwood last Saturday and if you give him time on the ball he can pick a pass,” Booker told The Argus in Brighton.

“It is something Albion need to look at on Saturday.

“If you want to stop him playing, then you have got to get in amongst him.

“It is all about tactics and shape and the shape that Sheffield United are playing at the moment suits Norwood.

“Boss Chris Wilder is getting the best out of him.

“Some players go to clubs and don’t want to do it for a certain manager because they don’t believe in what they are trying to do but obviously Norwood has every trust in Chris and that’s why he is in the team and is the club captain.”
