Chris Wilder regarded it as a big compliment to his Sheffield United side, and Lee Johnson has explained why he changed Bristol City’s shape against the Blades today.
Substitute Marley Watkins was the hero for City, coming off the bench to head home the winner inside the final ten minutes of a game United created enough chances to win.
And Johnson, the former Barnsley boss, admitted of his tactical change: “It’s always difficult and I had sleepless nights over it, but it was the right thing to do because of United’s quality.
”We don’t take that decision lightly, but United create very good overloads down both channels and often create 3v2 and even 4v2 situations, so we had to work on nullifying them down both channels and go toe-to-toe with them physically.
”We sprayed the ball around well and broke the lines, and to be fair to the lads they executed their game plan very well.”
