Former Sheffield United defender Kyle Walker reveals what he'll do if Man City lose appeal
Former Blade Kyle Walker says he could get tattoo removal if City fail their appeal
Former Sheffield United defender Kyle Walker has hinted that he could get his ‘four-in-a-row’ tattoo removed if Manchester City fail their appeal against the 114 charges that the club faces.
Walker, a Shirecliffe graduate who made his professional debut for United as a teenager, won 18 trophies with Man City, including four Premier League titles in a row, making him the most decorated player ever to play in Sheffield.
City won four Premier League titles in a row under previous manager Pep Guardiola between 2020/21 and the 2023/24 season.
The Premier League made a damning statement on September 29 once their guilty verdict had been announced, referring to ‘sham contracts’ created by the club to artificially inflate commercial revenues and mask the true nature of their agreements.
Kyle Walker famously got ‘four-in-a-row’ tattooed on his left leg, after the Sky Blues were the first PL side in history to secure four consecutive league titles.
Talking on TalkSPORT, he admitted he’d have to ‘probably’ get the tattoo removed if the club is stripped of their titles.
The former Blade said, "But you look at the likes of the great Man United squads [that won three in a row], and they never managed to get four in a row. So there's only a select few of us that can say that we've got four.”
"I'll try and keep it on, but hopefully we don't get things taken away," he added. “It's the big elephant in the room that we're probably all going to be asked when we're doing interviews or whatever we're doing.
“It doesn't look great. Let's not hide from the fact that they've been found guilty, but they're going through an appeal.
“As a player, all I can say is that all we did was go out and play our best football as a team, and that I'll defend the players for the rest of my life, because I feel that what we did and what we achieved in that space of time was probably incredible and probably won't be done ever again. But from the outside looking in, it doesn't look great, and we have to address that.”
