Nigel Clough has demanded his Blades side stop dithering and secure their top six spot this afternoon.

United have picked up just two points from the last nine available when just one more would have been enough to book their place in the play-offs.

And they travel to face a Leyton Orient side trying to claw their way out of the bottom four, Clough has urged the Blades to finally get the job done and avoid a nervy final day of the season.

“We’ve just got to take care of our business and make sure we get a result,” Clough said.

“We’ve had enough opportunities in the last week or so.

“All we needed was a clean sheet at Yeovil and we’d have been in it now, so we’ve missed out in some ways.

“We’ve got to make sure we do it on Saturday.”

Should Rochdale fail to beat MK Dons at Spotland this afternoon, United will be guaranteed their top six place.

Clough has warned his players that taking care of business themselves will not be easy as Orient battle for survival.

He said: “They have actually picked up at home as well and scored a few goals in the last six and won two, lost two and drawn two, so it’s an improvement on the form.

“It is almost the last throw of the dice for them. They need to get a result to stand a chance of staying. We are fully aware of their needs as well.”
