Sheffield United hope to receive a triple injury boost ahead of this weekend's trip to Southampton as they look to get their Premier League season up and running with a first win of the campaign.

Enda Stevens, Ethan Ampadu and Lys Mousset were all absent from the squad which faced Leicester City on Sunday.

Mousset rolled an ankle in training in the week before the game, while Republic of Ireland international Stevens and Wales' Ampadu couldn't recover from their own injuries in time to face Brendan Rodgers' Foxes.

But Chris Wilder, the United manager, believes the defensive duo will be ready for Southampton - and hopes Mousset is fit to join them on the trip to the south coast.

The Frenchman only made his first appearance of the season late last month, when he came off the bench in United's defeat to West Brom.

"A couple of things went against us," Wilder admitted after the Leicester loss.

"We lost Mousset during the week, he turned his ankle over, and Ethan and Enda just missed out and will be back next week.

"I don't like losing players at all but especially in training so that's been a tough one to take for us and him [Mousset].

"I think you saw last week what he offers with his pace when the game becomes stretched and I'm sure he'd have posed a problem in the last 20-25 minutes.

"Getting those boys back will be beneficial for us as a group.

"We've got to see how Lys comes through this week, we're hoping it'll clear up pretty quickly and he'll be back sooner rather than later."
