Sheffield United hold no fear of a Christmas stuffing at Manchester City and Liverpool

Chris Basham insists Sheffield United will not just be content with enjoying their trips over the festive period - but will travel to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool looking to continue their unbeaten run away from home.

United have not tasted defeat away from Bramall Lane since they won promotion to the Premier League, and haven't lost on the road since January against Swansea City.

That record will undergo possibly its most severe test over the festive period, with away trips to the Etihad and Anfield following this weekend's long trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.

But Basham insists the mentality will not change.

"Our Christmas games are really difficult but the gaffer won't just let us enjoy them," the defender said.

"He will want us to take points and keep our run going away from home. There's no reason why we can't do that.

“Everyone will be thinking 'Sheffield United could have a rocky time now,' but everyone's enjoying it, everyone's confident and loving life. Long may it continue."

United have attracted many plaudits for the way they have attacked the Premier League this season, despite being tipped for relegation by many pundits at the start of the campaign.

“It's enjoyable to play in and it has been since the manager came in," Basham, a veteran of United's League One days, added.

"He's brought in Lys Mousset and we have a great bunch of talented footballers on the bench as well. Hopefully, we'll see them over the Christmas period."
