Sheffield United handed transfer blow as Manchester City monitor £30m-rated Italian

Boyhood Blade Billy Sharp’s 73rd-minute penalty earned the club their first league win of the season at the 18th attempt.

Further wins will be the key to top-flight survival, so perhaps some new signings in the January transfer window will help do the job.

One man who is known to be on Wilder’s radar is Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, but a report from The Athletic says the 28-year-old isn’t too keen on dropping into a relegation battle.

Instead, he’s happy to bide his time this month for alternative offers. If a deal to Bramall Lane is to happen, it may be finalised later in the window.

Northampton Town are said to be leading the way to sign Leeds striker Ryan Edmondson on loan. A number of fellow League One clubs are also interested, with Bradford City linked earlier in the week. (BBC)

Arsenal are monitoring Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon with a view to making an offer for the Israel international this summer. The Gunners have held initial talks with the player’s representatives. (The Guardian)

Manchester City have shortlisted Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli ahead of a potential summer move. His contract runs until 2023 and is expected to cost at least £30million. Juventus are also tracking him. (Daily Mail)
