Sheffield United fans urged to join Newcastle United in tribute to Magpies fan who sadly took his own life

Sheffield United fans have been urged to join in with a minute's applause this weekend in memory of a Newcastle United fan who tragically took his own life recently.

The campaign is designed to honour Magpies supporter Danny Thorpe, who was 31, with a minute of applause in the 31st minute.

Andrew Keith, who organised a fundraising page on behalf of Danny's family, described Danny as "the most kind-hearted person you could ever meet."

"He would give you the shirt off his back. (Unless it was a Newcastle one)," he added.

"He will be sadly missed by many friends and family so let's get together and give something back."
