The Star asked respondents to our big fan survey which area Jokanović should focus on this summer as he puts his own stamp on United’s relegated squad.

And after it was confirmed that John Lundstram will officially leave the club this summer, plus the expected departure of Norwegian international Sander Berge, it’s perhaps no surprise that almost 69 per cent of fans who responded to the survey said that central midfield was the biggest priority for Jokanović and United’s recruitment team when the summer transfer window opens for business.

According to the survey, fans feel that United are well stocked in the goalkeeping (0.7 per cent) and full back (0.5 per cent) areas, with 14 per cent saying United need to recruit more wide midfielders and 13.5 per cent believing the Blades need to focus on the striking department.

Almost 60 per cent of fans believe that United need to make between four and six signings to assemble a squad capable of challenging for promotion and when asked how much they think United should spend this summer, the majority of fans (almost 42 per cent) said between £10m and £15m.

Just over 35 per cent thought United should spend over £20m, but fans are not as confident when it comes to how much they think will actually be lavished this summer – with the majority, 35 per cent, believing the Blades will spend between £5m and £10m.
