Greek media reports have, over a relatively short period of time, linked the Blades with four separate Olimpiacos players - midfielder Mady Camara, vice-captain Omar Elabdellaoui, centre-back Pape Abou Cisse, and now left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

According to the latest reports, United have been joined by Premier League rivals Spurs, Leicester City and Liverpool in pursuing the Greece international, who showcased his talents against Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Europa League earlier this season.

On top of that, recent reports have suggested that Napoli could also be in the running - this backs up last month's claims from Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, that suggested the Serie A powerhouse had already submitted an offer.

If the Blades' interest in Tsimikas is genuine, it certainly seems that securing his signature won't be straight forward. Any attempts to draw the club into a bidding war are likely to be met with short shrift by United, who have proven themselves adept negotiators under Chris Wilder.

While the Blades have broken their transfer record on a number of occasions this season - most notably with the £22 million swoop for Sander Berge - their spending pales into insignificance against, for example, fellow promoted side Aston Villa, who could well be relegated despite accumulating close to £150 million worth of new talent in 2019/20.
