Moore will enter the final year of his present deal later this summer but, with the Championship club believed to have the option of extending it for a further 12 months, negotiations were postponed towards the end of last term as Chris Wilder focused on trying to reach the play-offs.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his own future at Bramall Lane as co-owners Kevin McCabe and HRH Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud press ahead with their respective takeovers, Wilder has started preparing for the 2018/19 campaign. And that, given his previous comments on United’s goalkeeping situation, is expected to see Moore’s representative invited to resume discussions about his client’s agreement.

“We’re very fortunate to have the two ‘keepers we have,” Wilder said earlier this year. “They’re both excellent professionals, excellent players and they really push each other also.”

Blackman emerged as United’s first-choice number one after arriving on loan from Chelsea in July but Moore started the final match of the season against Bristol City. Despite being granted permission to return to Stamford Bridge, Blackman opted to attend his former team mates’ end of season trip to Las Vegas instead.
