Ryan Flynn has staked a claim for a prolonged run in Sheffield United’s starting eleven, manager Nigel Clough has admitted, ahead of today’s League One fixture against Crewe Alexandra.
The former Scotland under-21 international impressed during Tuesday’s win over Scunthorpe after replacing the injured Matt Done. Although Done, who arrived on a permanent transfer from Rochdale last month, has scored six goals since arriving at Bramall Lane, Clough acknowledged the sight of Flynn emerging as a driving force behind that 4-0 win has presented him with a dilemma.
“We probably looked as well-balanced as we have in a long time with Flynny and Jamie (Murphy) out wide,” Clough said. “They don’t just stay out there either. They cut inside like Matty as well.”
