Sheffield United are ‘in discussions’ over their third signing of the January transfer window, manager Chris Wilder has revealed.

The Blades boss has already unveiled Jack Rodwell and Jack Robinson as Blades players this window, the latter moving from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

Robinson could make his Blades debut in this weekend’s FA Cup tie at Millwall and Wilder is confident he will be soon followed through the door by another new face.

“We’re close,” Wilder revealed. “We’re in discussions but there’s another week to go until the deadline.

“That date is etched in my mind because it’s my wedding anniversary! So it's a date I know well. I’ve got a couple of things to do on that day. So I’d like to sign a couple before then and have a quiet day on the 31st!”

Asked if he was confident of tying up the deal before Saturday’s game at The Den, Wilder admitted: “We might struggle to get it done before then but people are working extremely hard to try and strengthen us in the last few days of the window.”
