Sheffield United: Chris Wilder issues an injury update over Lys Mousset after striker limped off against Manchester United
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has issued an injury update over Lys Mousset after the striker limped off against Manchester United yesterday.
Mousset was in fine form as he created one goal and scored another for the Blades, as they went 2-0 up against the 20-time English champions.
But three goals in a blistering seven-minute spell from the visitors put the Red Devils 3-2 ahead, before Oli McBurnie – who recently appeared in court charged with drink driving – came off the bench and claimed a point for the hosts with a late leveller.
McBurnie had earlier replaced Mousset when the Frenchman limped off, after pulling up when he raced against Victor Lindelof to reach a long ball forward.
And Wilder, speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, revealed the extent of the injury.
He said: “Lys has a tight hamstring, so hopefully it’s not damaged.
“But yet again, what a threat going the other way and what an ‘out’. He feels the love from the players and staff and most importantly the fans, and he’ll be a good player for us.
“Once again the combination of Lys and David McGoldrick caused all sorts of problems throughout the game, when Lys was on.
“They [the Red Devils] changed their shape and had to gamble. When we look back and analyse the game, we wonder if we’d had Lys on for another 10-15 minutes, it would have helped us.
“But I’m delighted for Oli to get a goal. He’s had a little bit of a rough time of it recently, but has trained well and deserved his opportunity to get the equaliser.”
