Sheffield United boss provides update on Patrick Bamford and Ryan One post Derby County
Chris Wilder has provided an update on Ryan One, after he missed out on the squad to face Derby County, and Patrick Bamford after being substituted instantly after scoring
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has provided an update on Ryan One and Patrick Bamford after the latter was substituted immediately after equalising against ten-man Derby County.
The opening half an hour was a largely quiet affair between the two sides until Bamford first went down after taking a hit from Derby defender Dion Sanderson, landing awkwardly on his shoulder.
He received treatment on the pitch, resulting in the game being paused for several minutes, allowing both managers to address their players.
He briefly came off as per protocol to receive treatment but returned to the pitch shortly after, before Bobby Clark put the Rams ahead.
The Rams went down to ten men just after the hour mark and then Bamford got on the end of a fantastic Romelle Donovan cross, finishing from close range.
Bamford couldn’t celebrate though, after he took a hit from goalkeeper Jacob Zetterstrom while putting the ball in the back of the net.
Speaking to The Star at full-time, Blades boss Chris Wilder said, “He's (Bamford) been in good form, since Lincoln and him getting the equaliser [then]; he's not coming off, and I'm not taking him off.”
Wilder was forced to make the change, though, as Bamford couldn’t even celebrate his goal.
The striker remained on the floor and was surrounded by his teammates before walking off himself.
“We're in tomorrow, so we'll have a little peek at that, and hopefully it's not a bad one.”
Tyrese Campbell replaced the goalscorer, yet failed to make a serious impact on the game.
The Blades gaffer also confirmed that Ryan One also missed out on the match day squad after suffering a setback in his hamstring injury.
“He just felt something the other day (in training). So gone for a scan and see what that's all about. But as you know, physically you've seen him. That's his game. He's explosive. He gets you up the pitch.
His pace is phenomenal. Yeah, disappointed that, because he would have obviously impacted the game.”
