Wilder, who wants John Lundstram to sign a new deal with United as well as the likes of Enda Stevens, John Egan and John Fleck, made signing new players his priority in the window.

But after landing Jack Rodwell, Jack Robinson, Sander Berge, Richairo Živković and Panagiotis Retsos in January, Wilder will now turn his attentions back to contract matters - and hopes to have breakthroughs "in the upcoming weeks".

"We have to recognise that the main aim and target was to get the three boys in, and Jack Rodwell and Jack Robinson as well, to strengthen in January," Wilder said.

"Now the focus moves onto the contracts, and other bits and pieces ahead of the summer. That's the planning that goes into it, in terms of potential areas to strengthen and those players that we might lose.

"But the core that have done fantastically well for us in recent years, I'm very keen to tie down. The boys that are the heartbeat of the team and the club, I want to secure their services.

"It's reward for their consistent performances and hopefully we'll have some good news in the upcoming weeks.

"The focus is on the next game now. I want to get these boys tied in and rewarded, and move onto the next piece of business we’re trying to do."
