Winger Jamie Murphy has revealed that Sheffield United have been given a licence to thrill their fans in home games at their Bramall Lane headquarters.

Murphy made the admission after making his first start under United manager Nigel Clough, in Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Swindon.

“At home, we’re expected to get forward and attack teams,” Murphy, who could make his eleventh appearance of the season when United travel to Stevenage this weekend, said.

“And I feel like we do try and offer a little bit more, attacking-wise, when we’re at Bramall Lane.

“That’s just the nature of football - away from home, you’re sometimes a little more cautious.

“But at home, we possess enough firepower in the squad to go out there and have a go at teams.”

“That doesn’t mean we’ll go for a draw in every away game, though,” the 24-year-old Scot continued.

“The gaffer [Clough] is great with his tactics and he knows what he’s doing.

“He has a plan for us in every single game we play, and it’s up to us to stick to that.”
