Callum McFadzean was on the scoresheet as Sheffield United completed their pre-season schedule with a 1-1 draw at York City.

McFadzean drilled home after Lyle Taylor and Conor Coady combined during the opening exchanges of the first-half.

City, who included former United striker Richard Cresswell in their starting eleven, secured a share of the spoils when substitute Ryan Bowman pounced late on.

David Weir, who named several youngsters in the visitors’ squad, confirmed defender Tony McMahon had been substituted after sustaining an ankle injury.

He joins fellow full-back Marcus Williams on the casualty list.

Weir, whose side begin the new League One campaign against Notts County on Friday, said: “We’ll see how they are when things settle down.”
