SHEFFIELD United will this week press ahead with their efforts to reshape Danny Wilson’s squad following the arrival of Jamie Murphy and Danny Higginbotham at Bramall Lane, writes James Shield.

The Star understands that several clubs, both at Football League and SPL level, have made contact with officials at Bramall Lane aimed at acquiring the services of players on the periphery of the former Northern Ireland international’s plans.

Wilson, whose side return to League One action at Notts County this weekend, has made no secret of the fact that anyone not holding down a regular place in his starting eleven could depart during the transfer window.

The move is part of United’s response to new financial measures, including Salary Cost Management Protocol, rolled out across the division last summer.

As this newspaper reported before Saturday’s defeat by Yeovil Town, Erik Tonne and Danny Philliskirk are among those attracting interest from elsewhere.

Derek Adams, the Ross County manager, recently admitted he had approached Wilson about the possibility of signing some of his promising youngsters on loan but distanced himself from reports linking Callum McFadzean and Jordan Chapell with moves to Victoria Park.
