SHEFFIELD United could shortly unveil more changes behind the scenes after parting company with two senior members of staff.
The departure of Julian Winter, previously the League One club’s chief executive, was announced on Monday just hours before sources indicated John Pemberton, United’s director of academy coaching, had also left Bramall Lane.
The statement acknowledging Winter’s position, which had been the subject of intense speculation for a fortnight, acknowledged that United are “in the process of reviewing operational structures at both Sheffield United plc and the football club”
While it remains unclear whether United will look to immediately replace Winter, The Star understands they will assess the claims of any internal candidates for the role created by Pemberton’s exit as well as those from interested parties presently working elsewhere, although the 47-year-old’s situation has yet to be officially confirmed.
Pemberton was appointed academy director in May 2010.
Winter, who represented United as a player, arrived 16 months later following a spell with Watford.
