Michael Doyle says any loss of focus could prove costly against Chesterfield this afternoon.

The Sheffield United captain made the claim as Nigel Clough’s side prepared to face their League One rivals in front of a capacity crowd at the Proact Stadium. (Kick-off 1pm).

“A lot of it is game-management and concentration when you come to these games,” Doyle said. “You need to keep calm, concentrate and try to block out all the other stuff.

“The team that’s able to do that in these games is the team that comes out on top.

“I’m sure it’s going to be a great occasion. Not least because of the full house. These are the matches you want to play in.”

United climbed to seventh in the table when they beat Gillingham last weekend. Chesterfield, meanwhile, are eighth following a draw with Notts County.

Doyle added: “Chesterfield are a good side with some good players and a good manager. We know it will be a tough game but there’s always something different about a derby.

“It’s a tight little ground and there will be a great atmosphere. Hopefully we can come out on top.”
