Sheffield United are flying high, but could miss out on a highly-rated free agent.

TodoFichajes report that 31-year-old midfielder Nico Gaitan has opened talks with Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors, potentially dashing Sheffield United’s hopes of signing him.

The Blades were tipped to be battling Aston Villa and West Ham to sign the free agent, who is a former Argentina international.

The Chicago Fire midfielder will become a free agent in January when his contract expires.
