Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday learn Carabao Cup second and third round fate
The draw has been made for the second and third rounds of this season’s Carabao Cup.
Sheffield Wednesday’s reward for scraping past Walsall on penalties on Saturday is a trip to Rochdale with the tie to be played on the week commencing September 14.
Should they find a way past Dale, the Owls will then take on either Ipswich or Fulham, again away from home.
Sheffield United come in at the second round stage and they will face Burnley at Turf Moor.
Victory over the Clarets would see Chris WIlder’s side hit the road to play either Millwall or Cheltenham.
The third round ties take place on the week commencing September 21.
Wednesday were knocked out in the third round last season by Everton, while United went out after a suprise 1-0 defeat at Bramall Lane to Sunderland at the same stage.
