Whether it’s behind the scenes at the clubs, or a look at the life of a footballer when they’re not on the pitch, social media has taken us closer to the big personalities than ever before.
It’s also created new figures too, with social media influencers – such as fans and bloggers - sharing their news and views of the games and the teams, provoking debate and creating content for supporters to enjoys.
We’ve taken a look at a selection of some from both sides of the footballing divide in Sheffield who are creating content on various apps and platforms.

1. Chris Waddle

2. Kyle Walker

3. Garry Monk
Yes, the Owls boss is on Twitter and has been since April 2013 - accumulating a healthy 141,000 followers. However, Monk hasn't tweeted since September 8 last year - just days after he was appointed Wednesday boss. @GarryMonk. Photo: James Chance
4. Sean Bean
Everyone knows the Sheffield-born actor is a huge Unitedite. He posted a good luck message to the club via Instagram on the eve of their game against Ipswich Town in April 2019 - a fixture they won to effectively seal promotion to the Premier League.
