Sheffield United: 'All VAR decisions are against us' - Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has his say on Chris Basham's overturned red card in Blades' Carrow Road victory

Basham initially saw red for a late challenge on Norwich’s Kenny McLean, with Simon Hooper viewing it as dangerous play.

But VAR Peter Bankes overturned that decision after viewing a replay, as Basham’s standing leg had made contact with McLean – rather than his ‘swinging’ right leg.

Basham himself had earlier been denied a penalty when he went down in the area, while John Lundstram’s ‘goal’ in the same move was ruled out for offside.

But City boss Farke said after the game: “It’s not my topic. I learn during the season that all VAR decisions are against us and I can’t do anything.

“I didn’t watch the scene back. It’s the first time this season that a red card given by the referee is overturned.

“If it was a clear and obvious mistake and 100 percent not a red card then I accept this. But I was just not sure it was a clear and obvious mistake.”

When asked whether VAR decisions affected his side's ability to get back into the game, the Norwich boss said: "I don't want to speak about other mistakes, it's more like we are self critical and we want to speak about our mistakes and they were crucial.

"What I learned during this season is that each and every VAR decision and especially the overruled decision seems to be a disaster for us, each and every decision seems to be against us.

"I can't understand why or accuse anyone, it is like it is but of course it would have made a huge difference to play the last 20-25 minutes against 10 lads and it would have changed the game completely."
