George Long features among a quartet of Sheffield United goalkeepers to be recognised at international level earlier this week.
Long was named in the England under-21 squad for the forthcoming UEFA Championship qualifiers with Finland and San Marino while fellow countryman Jake Eastwood, a member of the Redtooth Academy, has been invited to attend an under-18’s training camp.
United officials have also been informed that George Willis (England) and Gareth Owen (Wales) are on stand-by ahead of their respective nations’ under-19 fixtures.
Long, who turned 20 on Tuesday, will be hoping to win his first under-21 cap when Finland visit stadium:mk on November 14. Gareth Southgate’s charges complete their Group One campaign against San Marino at Greenhous Meadow five days later.
