Sheffield United Academy player Jamie McDonagh scored a brace for his country today as Northern Ireland under 19s beat their Icelandic counterparts 3-1 in Belfast.

For the second part of a double-header between the two sides, having played out a 2-2 draw on Wednesday in which McDonagh started, the Blades youngster took a place among the substitutes.

However, the 18 year old forward came off the bench for the whole of the second half and turned in an impressive performance, galvanising the team and scoring twice, the first from the penalty spot.

Derry City’s Josh Tracey put Northern Ireland in front, while Ragnar Larusson scored a late consolation for Iceland.
